About Dyslexia
Dyslexia is a brain based difference that affects about 10% of the population. There is often a link within families and more males than females are diagnosed, although it is thought that distribution of people with dyslexia is roughly the same between the genders.

People with dyslexia usually have difficulty with literacy but often if a child is above average intelligence, has excellent teaching or develops good coping strategies it isn't unusual for their dyslexia to be missed by parents and teachers. Often these people are working much harder to keep up!

To find out if someone has dyslexia they must undertake an assessment with a psychologist or a specially qualified teacher.
